The LIBERTYVILLE TOWNSHIP DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION (LTDO) is a grassroots volunteer organization that has been meeting and working together for over a decade.

We often hear residents say “I thought I was the only Democrat in my neighborhood”. We can assure you that is not the case. While the Republicans have traditionally held a majority in this area, much has changed in the past ten years and is still changing.

In the 2008 election, Barack Obama won Lake County with 59.3% (177,242) of the vote. In Libertyville Township, Barack received 54% of the vote. Democratic US Senator Dick Durbin received 63% of the vote. There are plenty of Democrats in Libertyville Township!

WHAT DO WE DO?

We Support Candidates! We support local, state and national Democratic candidates in a variety of ways.

We Help Get Out the Vote! We walk the streets and help get out the vote at election time.

We Publish a Newsletter! Our newsletter is published twice a year and delivered via first class mail to all LTDO members.

Become a Member! For a minimum donation of $10.00, you can become an official member, receive our bi-annual newsletter and help us elect Democrats! Support our efforts with your donation. Visit our website for more information.

Get Registered to Vote! If you’re not registered, get registered so you can participate in our Democracy.

Vote in Every Election for Democratic Candidates! Many citizens skip voting in the Primary elections but they are very important especially to local State Rep and Senate candidates. The Right to Vote is cherished. Exercise your right and vote!

Become a Volunteer! Whether you have a couple of hours or would like to spend more time, we need volunteers for a variety of work especially before elections. Volunteer Interests include such activities as 1)  event coordination, 2) fundraising, 3) recruitment/training, 3) telephone calling, 4) door to door canvassing, 5) distributing candidate literature, 6) assisting with mailings and MORE….  Even displaying a candidate’s sign in your front yard helps elect Democrats!

Become a Precinct Committeeman/woman! For those citizens willing to dedicate more time and commitment, consider becoming a precinct committeeman/woman. Each precinct in Libertyville Township has one elected/appoint precinct committeeman/woman. Duties are primarily related to representing the Democratic party at the precinct level. There’s lots of documentation available on this subject, contact an LTDO Officer for more info.

Become involved in helping us implementing our goals! The LTDO is a small volunteer group of dedicated Township citizens. We need talented and committed people to help achieve our goals. So come on out, attend a couple of meetings and see if you’re interested helping us build the LTDO into an effective political organization helping Democrats at all levels of government.

Interested in becoming a Precinct Committeeman/Committeewoman?

A precinct committeeman/committeewoman is a Democratic Party official at the local level. They are on the front lines in elections, invited to special events with candidates and absolutely essential to winning elections.

The job of committeepersons is simple: Find Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters, get them registered to vote and get them to the polls on election day. The office of the precinct committeeperson is the most important position in the entire Democratic Party!

They can be the most effective people in their area to get out the vote for Democratic candidates. People are more likely to trust a neighbor – even one they don’t know – to give them useful information about candidates and the voting process. Use our contact form to get more information.
